-----------------------
Several of our TBGC Debutantes™ have been bullied in recent years! On Monday, April 4, 2011, we launched an ANTI-BULLYING campaign called TBGC
Coalition Against Bullying™ (CAB). Reason for the campaign: Girl bullying, specifically at the middle
school level, is at an all-time high. It must cease! Two volunteer positions have been created:
Youth
Ambassador (CAB) - Debutante Jamice Young
Adult Ambassador (CAB) -
Keita Baba Fall 2011 (UPDATE) We continue on with our full-fledged anti-bullying
campaign (CAB) in schools and in the community. _______________________________________ Two years ago (June 12, 2010), I embarked
on a journey introducing part of my non-profit vision in the Charlotte area. The Black Girls' Corner™
was founded/trademarked, not knowing what its future would hold. God has sustained it! It has exceeded my
wildest expectations! And the girls keep coming!
What began as "I started it," has become
"We run it!" I have the most amazing group of ladies working with me in TBGC™. Our goal is
to keep growing in number, to mix things up a bit, to add a new twist to what we do, and to prepare
these young minority girls for their promising futures.
"Steppin' out of the Corner into our destinies™"
www.theblackgirlscorner.orgHappy 2nd Anniversary, TBGC™! Thank you to our Board Of Directors, Volunteer Staff (Intern Mentors, Volunteer Mentors), guest facilitators, corporate sponsors, individual donors, community
supporters, collaborative partners, mothers (and other caregivers) of Debutantes, and DEBUTANTES.
We rock!!! Miss Vickie June 2012 ___________________________________ TO MY TBGC™ FAMILY: "One year ago, on Saturday, June 12, 2010... The Black Girls' Corner™ (TBGC™) held its first bi-weekly session. Here
we are 1 year later, larger in number and stronger in character. Happy 1st anniversary to my TBGC™
family of Debutantes, Mothers (or other caregivers), and all Volunteers! I could not have brought my nonprofit
vision to life without all of you, so I thank you all for being a significant part of my life. I am so proud of the youth empowerment mentoring organization we have created and have become... And I am even prouder of our girls, affectionately called, "Debutantes." We have cried together, laughed together, created together, shared together, and grown together. To me, that is what our
sisterhood, and this "movement" is all about. I look forward to growing more with all of
you, to grooming our girls ("Debutantes") to be young ladies, and to training our girls ("Debutantes") to be leaders. I love you all!" Miss Vickie June 2011
